Second Grade Explore

Welcome to Win, Lose, or Draw!

Week 1

We started off our unit by drawing and answering a "get to know you" question.  Following this the students worked together to draw multiple lines on a page.  The students then found their favorite section of the page, framed, and colored it.  To finish off the day we split into teams a started a game of pictionary.

Week 2

Today started off with a lot of laughter and yelling as we continued with one more game of Pictionary.  Playing a simple game of pictionary taught the group a number of valuable lessons:
*The student who believed he was "no good because I can't draw" -The boys figured out his word in 45 seconds and he won confidence and a smile
*The game taught the whole group the value of teamwork as their ideas built on each other, It taught were challenged and found success as the game ended in a tie between team George and team Georgina.
*They learned to break down a challenge in to smaller parts to solve the bigger problem.
*The students learned how to look at a problem in a different way.

Week 3 and 4

Sadly I did not get to see my kids second graders this week.   They were delayed at the Mission's fair and we ended up having to cancel class.  Next week I will be attending the the annual CAGT (Colorado Association of Gifted and Talented) conference, so we will be back together in two weeks.
